A Journal:
Foundation started expanding its activities soon after its formation on 7-3-1993 by bringing out a Journal called the Journal of the Indian Geographical Foundation
which was changed to Practicing Geographer in the year 2003 with a special issue on SAARC countries. Practicing Geographer is a biannual publication containing results of the scholars, researchers and investigators in any branch of Geography and its allied disciplines. Professor Arabinda Biswas, the founder Editor believed that the most effective way of achieving the objectives of the Foundation is by bringing out a Journal containing the best work done by young geographers. The first volume (Volume 1, Winter. 1994) was a felicitation volume in honor of Professor Satyesh Chakraborty. This volume contains writing on Watershed Management along with other writing on Cultural Landscape and also Role of Woman and Development in a Chakma Society of Tripura. Professor Biswas passed away on 26th October, 2001. From volume 8-9, the editorial responsibility was given to Dr. Arun Kumar Singh and till today he is sharing this responsibility. Practicing Geographer published a special issue Vol. 10, Winter 2003 on SAARC countries with articles from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Bhutan. Volume 21 No. 1 & 2, 2017 was the Silver Jubilee year publication. Foundation has a track record for publishing its Journal in time. However it has not been able to publish Vol. 22 no. 2 Winter 2018 due to UGC problem which we hope to overcome it soon.
